Celtic through to Divisional Cup Semi Final

May 8, 2016

Divisional Cup Quarter Final - Loughglynn Utd 2 Glen Celtic 5 - Celtic progressed to the semi final of the Divisional Cup with 5-2 win over Loughglynn in Loughglynn. Celtic had a number of chances to go ahead early on but failed to hit the target. However they did go through a purple patch midway through the half when Ryan McHugh scored hat trick within ten minutes. First was neat play through the middle with Willie Comer andPaul Dolan combining to put him through on goal and finish to the bottom corner, second was well taken bicycle kick which flew into the net and third was scored with right footed shot after good work on the wing by Simon Stachurski. Half time 3-0 - second half started in same way with Celtic pressing hard for more goals and were rewarded when Ciarán Trautt met a cross with well taken strike. Loughglynn pulled a goal back before Celtic scored a fifth with Paul Dolan heading to the net. Loughglynn scored a second but never threatened getting back into the game. Celtic wasted number of chances to extend the lead and were pulled up for offside on many occasions (mostly correct decisions).
They now face a semi final with Brazukas at home on Wednesday 18th May at 8pm. With a full squad this team could easily reach and win a cup competition but know they will have to play better than this to do so.
