It was with great sadness that we heard of the passing of Ballaghadereen FC and former Glen Celtic Masters player Yuri Bondarev this week. Yuri played with the team for a couple of seasons and along with his great friends and team mates Pat Browne and Gerry Carmody enjoyed success winning a league title. His passion for the game was obvious to see, coupled with his ability he became a regular at full back on the squad. One abiding memory of Yuri has to be the third goal again...st Ballinasloe Town in 2007 when Yuri hit an unstoppable shot from 30 yards out. In recent years when Glen Celtic held a charity match on the astro turf against Shiven Rovers both Pat and Yuri came up and played on the night. The club would like to send their condolences to Yuri's family and friends. A gentleman, a sportsman and a great team mate - May He Rest In Peace.
Funeral Arrangements are as follows - BONDAREV (The Oaks, Ballaghaderreen, Co. Roscommon and formerly of Latvia) September4th, 2017 (Peacefully) Jurijs (Yuri).
